Motorola Droid on Verizon? I would never have thought that instant messaging on the Droid would count as text messages, but then I read Verizon's website that says the "Talk & Text" plan includes:

"Unlimited Messaging for sending and receiving (i) Text, Picture, Video and Voice Messages with Verizon Wireless and non-Verizon Wireless customers in the United States; (ii) Text, Picture, Video and Voice Messages sent via email; (iii) Instant Messages"

To me, this seems to imply that every instant message counts as a text message, and that if you don't get the "Talk & Text" plan with unlimited messaging (which I don't have and don't really want to get), you'll be billed for every instant message just as if it were a text.

Is this true, or is it simply a misleading description on Verizon's part?

Thanks!

No they do not, they use your internet to send messages and do not count as texting. Also, there are apps on the Android market which you can download that let you text from your phone using your internet without running up your texts. They do not use your phone number but they use a certain email address that depends on the app. Anymore questions just ask me.
