Do iPhone apps look terrible on the iPad?

I have an iPhone 4. I am looking to buy the iPad 2 when it comes out next week. I know that some games need to be upgraded for the best quality (Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja..). I have a lot of games that don't actually have an iPad version just iPhone/iPod touch. If I do the pixel doubling thing on my iPad will the quality be terrible or just not as good as I'm used to?
