Me and my brother were talking about the last book in line at the movies and this girl behind us suddenly goes "Oh my god! I haven't even read the book yet and now you wrecked it for me!" I also heard her later telling people to shut up all the time when they were laughing in the movie BITCH! I mean if you haven't read the books by now you don't really have the right to complain when other people are talking about it. The last book was finished like 3 years ago come on... And obviously if she prefers to watch the movies before reading the books she's not a real fan.

Just because she didn't read the book doesn't make her not a fan. Perhaps she is illiterate.

I personally wouldn't give it away for others, especially when I know some people didn't read the book, but I suppose she could have ask for you to not give it away instead of freak out. I'm not going to give away the ending to On the Road.

Your point is well taken, but if you were discussing the same book as the movie
you were going in to see then I would say they would have the right to gripe about
it. If, on the other hand, you were discussing a previous book in the series then
I would kinda side with you.

Lots of people don't read the books before going to a movie but that doesn't
make them less of a fan of the movies.
