do the hard cover cases scratch phones?

i was thinking about getting the voyager and wanted a case like this.

if you have the voyager and a case, can you tell me if it scratches the phone?

My friend has the Voyager but not a hard case. But my other friend has the iPhone and the hard case scratched the heck out of the back of it.
