your religion's teachings? I was once a Baptist but began to question Christian teachings and the existence of God. My family taught me that I should always have faith, no matter what, and to question God was very sinful. At that time I was, what I would consider, a strong Christian and I was very stressed out with feelings of guilt. But I kept questioning.

Now, I do not worship at the point in time, but only accept the possibility of a higher power (whether it be one or many, male or female) and do not follow any religion. Questioning Christianity has, in my opinion, made me grow into what I feel I need to be.

For those who believe in a higher power and have a religion- do you believe it is wrong to question the existence of a higher power or wrong to question what he/she does? Do you believe it is better to just have pure faith and trust?

Do you believe it is wrong to question your religion's teachings?

Why do you feel this way?

Nope. Actually, it's your duty to question. And if you don't find the answers that satisfy you, it's time to move on. I do not understand how anyone can continue to be a member of any religion if they doubt (or do not agree with) the beliefs of that religion. Because, believe it or not, there is no religion in the world that can prove it is THE ONLY TRUE ONE.

I don't believe it's wrong at all. I mean there is no right or wrong answer here b/c it's really up to each persons individual belief system. you have found a path that is right for you..and others will probably answer your question saying it is wrong and all that jazz. I actually have gone through what you have and I feel I am at a higher sense of enlightenment than I ever was when I was practicing christianity. So I can relate to you very much. :) I think questioning these things is perfectly normal no matter if you stay within a certain religious belief system or lean toward not being a part of any organized religion.

what is your relation like with your parents?
Can you, or could you, go to them and politely ask them why they made the rules they did and why did they expect you to obey them?

That is how we can approach God.
