Do you ever get 'sick of driving'?

I don't drive, I haven't started to yet. But everytime I know someone who has driven for a while, they have always mentioned that they get sick of driving sometimes.

Wtf??

How can you get sick of something so fun?!... It's as if you can just get in the car, start it up, and go to places you've never been before with ease!

How can something so gratifying, get tiring? - It's easier than walking in my opinion.

That feeling of going down a highway at night with the window down with the wind flowing through your hair and music playing... how can someone get 'sick' of that, ever?

Just something that has boggled my mind for a while. I can't WAIT to drive!
 
I used to feel just like that when I was 15 and now I've had my license for 3 years. I wouldn't say I'm "sick" of driving, but it's not as fun as it used to be. Now I'm more paranoid about how all these other crazy people drive, and it becomes more of a game of survival trying to look out for yourself on the road. Driving on the highway is still fun unless I have to do it for over 8 eight hours (except that's where the most idiotic drivers are most of the time). The best part that never gets old is playing the music up loud at a stop light jamming out and rocking the car next to some elderly people in a Cadillac who are looking at you like you've gone off the deep end.
 
I've been driving for over 40 years. The day I quit will be that day they put me in the ground. It is not uncommon for me to get up early on weekend morning and go out for a drive just to watch the sun come up over our valley. And I have recently rewarded myself with the purchase of a 1958 Jaguar XK150. This will make my morning drives even more fun.
 
it is great fun, but if i have to keep driving down to my inlaws while they sit on their lazy butts, it gets kinda grating...
 
It is a lot of fun when you are just starting out. No worries, your parents paying for gas and maybe the car. Once you have to start filling up the tank yourself and paying for all the repairs on a car, it can get annoying. I personally have never gotten sick of driving.
 
I never got "sick" of driving. I have driven semis (tractor-trailers) over the road for 30+ years. I have over 3,000,000 professional miles on plus all of the driving in my personal vehicles. I have driven in all 50 states in the US, 5 states in Mexico and 7 provinces in Canada. True, I get sick of traffic jams, drunk drivers, stupid drivers and speed cops, but never ever got sick of the open road.

Do me one favor when you start driving? Find an owner/operator and ride with him for a few days. He can show you all of the really dumb moves other drivers make while on the road near an 18-wheeler. It's a better survival class then you'll find anyplace else.
