PHOENIX - A federal judge in Phoenix has sentenced a Mexican national to 15 years in prison for his part in a deadly rollover that killed ten illegal immigrants.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said 39-year-old Brian Guzman-Ochoa of Hermosillo,
Mexico, was the driver of a vehicle that rolled over in the desert near Florence on August 7, 2008.

At the time of the crash, Guzman-Ochoa admitted he was driving.

Guzman-Ochoa pleaded guilty on April 20 to one count of transportation of illegal aliens resulting in death.

Authorities said Guzman-Ochoa was driving a sports utility vehicle toward Phoenix when he veered off a highway, killing nine people at the scene and another who died later.

Filthy racists. A life is a life. But you can't see past skin color...pathetic.

Yes, I do. They probably didn't even know where they were going. They just paid some Mexican guy to take them to a place where they could find a job.

All I know is what you posted. But of course I feel sorry for their deaths. What kind of immoral would celebrate the death of a poor man trying to make a better life for himself and his family?

Yes, but only because it took a good vehicle out of commission. I hate to hear about the senseless destruction of a good vehicle.

Did you people miss the part where these people were committing a crime? They chose to break the law so they get to live (or die) with the consequences. I hope Guzman-Ochoa gets treated like he would be in a Mexican prison.

I feel sorry for any family members who have lost someone to death through an accident; it doesn't matter if they are illegal or not. It was an unfortunate accident and leaves many mourning for their loved ones. Do I feel sorry that illegals are allowed to come to our Country and continue to break the law with no consequences (except for those of us who must support their law breaking)? You had better believe it! If people want to come here, they need to do so legally. If they are breaking the law, they need to be sent home, not put on the money rolls for us to support. We have enough to do to try to keep up with the insane spending which is going on in this Nation without adding more to our burdens.

Of course I feel sorry for the Immigrants who were killed and for their families. But, that doesn't mean that if they were illegals that I believe that they should not have been allowed to stay in America.

The word illegal still means the same. They were here illegally. What part of that word do you not understand?

I feel sorry.... no one should die unless they've actually done something very very wrong. (i.e Hitler) Some people may hate illegal immigrants, but people should know that most of them are desperate to make a good life for themselves and their family. Some people may still dislike illegal immigrants, but all Americans should remember that they were once immigrants when they came here and apparently drove the native Americans out....

Of course I do. Any loss of life is saddening to me. And the life of a person born in the United States is no more valuable than the life of a person born in another country. Now ask all those people who said they were not sad if they consider themselves to be "pro-life". You'd be surprised.
