Changing the audio setup in a car does not alter the mechanics, meaning it will perform exactly as the manufacturer intended. Do they still need to be declared to the insurance company?

No. if the car is stolen or a write off you may not get back the cost of your upgraded audio system, they will only compensate on the car basic model, unless you ask them to cover your new system, that may include them asking you to upgrade the Alarm system and of course new premiums may be charged.

depends on your company
i always just talked to my agent when i changed anything
usually he just marked down for theft.
