I was having this conversation with another parent. Both of our boys are playing multiple little league sports & are currently in middle school. Of course they are too young to know how good they will be in 3 or 4 years. The charter school they currently attend is awesome for academics. The area we live in has horribly underperforming public schools (but decent private schools). Some of these schools are power houses. These schools consistently have players in the MLB, NBA, and NFL, and the college ranks. The local schools include (Dorsey, Crenshaw, Loyola, Junipero Serra, Mater Dei, etc). The charter school system (for which I have an older child that has been attending for 5 years) boasts an almost 100% college acceptance rate for 12th graders, and 75% of their graduating classes remain in college past their freshman year.
However, the school's sports programs are not the best, and children almost never get scouted for colleges at any level.
The other parent and I were debating on whether or not we should take our sons out of the school when they are in high school if they have an opportunity to play for a a good sports program.
