Do you think that Buddhism is a very self-centered religion?

I got into a heated discussion with a Christian today about Buddhism and they were trying to "save me" from this self-centered religion. But don't you think that until you find peace within yourself, you can not spread peace and compassion to others?

Self-centered? Buddhism is about realizing, that there is no "self".

Edit: No problem. Unlike your Christian "friend", I actually bother to research topics, before I make my opinion.
