because i saw on the news that a priest was doing that and i don't really agree with it am i wrong ?
 
Should religions and it's members involve themselves in the affairs of the world at all would be a better question. Jesus said " I am no part of the world " so his true followers should do the same. John 17:16
 
It's called freedom of religion and freedom of speech. What's your problem with that?
 
No, they shouldn't, and any religious organizations that try to persuade their followers to vote a certain way should be stripped of their tax-exempt status.
 
If they want to maintain their tax free status, they need to keep their noses out of politics. They are not entitled to representation, if they are not paying taxes.
 
Expressing the views of the church is fine, everyone makes their own choice

everyone should think for themselves. if they don't, its their own fault. however it is still wrong even though it has happened so much throughout history.
 
No you are not wrong. Religion does as man dictates, not necessarily what God wants.

Sticking to the word of God as it is written has focus on truth.

I don't care what any preacher says, I listen to God. I vote as I please.

Christ never stood behind the word of God to satisfy any political agenda.
 
People who want to bring their religion into politics should ask themselves how they would feel if atheists became the majority and voted to close down the churches or if Muslims got enough power and mandated that everybody becomes a Muslim.

It's a little thing called separation of church and state. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working. Religion has always been used to keep the flock under the control of a few. The dark ages, the crusades, etc...
 
People shouldn't sway voters with religion any more than they should lobby for companies to oppose the will of the people, or vote for laws that will oppress people who don't think like they do. They will anyway, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
 
As a person of faith it all comes down to this:

Church property is exempt from property taxes.
Church net income is not subject to income taxes.

The 1st Amendment gives freedom of religion. Such a bargain eh? The protection of the 1st Amendment without paying any taxes. What a deal. No Constitution is worth anything unless there is a government that enforces it. Governments need money to operate.

Since churches don't have to pay for their constitution protections then they should be silent about election issues. If you don't pay then you don't play.

If they do, they should lose their tax-exempt status. Other than that, I believe in your right to say what you want, even if I don't like it.
 
That is wrong. People should be able to think for themselves and vote the way they like.
