how far behind is torchwood from doctor who? i'm watching season 3 of doctor who and season 2 of torchwood. marhta jones is on torchwood and says she works for UNIT and doesn't travel with the doctor anymore?

Series 2 of Torchwood starts the night after the scene in "Last of the Time Lords" (Doctor Who s3 e13) where the Doctor drops Captain Jack off at the Milennium Center in Cardiff. Captain Jack mentions in the first episode of Torchwood s2 that he "found his Doctor" and "saw the end of the world".
