I am a volunteer firefighter and have purchased a Galls wig wag flashing system. I bought the system before i bought my new car. Now I do not know if the flasher system will work in my car because it says not to attempt installing it on foreign vehicles or vehicles with ground side switched headlights. It gives instructions on how to check to see, but I do not have the nessecary equipment to do so. Has anyone else had this problem and knows, or can find out?

Thanks!

To my knowledge, GM products are not groundside switched. What this means is the lamp will light up if you ground the lamp.

I'm not sure what equipment you would need, but you can check it with a 12v light bulb and a piece of wire.

Take a piece of wire with the ends bared. Push it to one side of the bulb connector. Touch the other end of the wire to the negative battery terminal. Nothing will happen. Now touch to the positive terminal. The headlight may light (if you've completed the circuit) and it may not. Take the bulb out and put the wire on the other lead. Touch to the negative termal of the battery. Again, nothing will happen. If it were gournd switch it would have lit with one of the negative terminals. If you touch to the positive terminal one of them will complete the circuilt and the lamp will light.

WARNING. It is possible to blow a fuse if complete the circuit. You may wish to remove the headlamp fuses before you play this little game.
