does a hitachi gx5020a finalize the dvd when the disc is full?

i have been recording and i still have 20 min left on the disc. i tried to finalize the disc but it tells me to use the ac ADAPTER/charger. i was wondering if i use the whole disc will it finalize itself. if not can u tell me how to use the ADAPTER to finalize the disc
