religion? Most (if not all) Jewish people I know don't view the beliefs of the religion to be literal.

Yeah.

I see that, compare it to the ideology and zealousness of Christians, and then... scratch my head in confusion.
 
Yes, but everything you claim is seen as prophecy, in the Bible.
And most of it was written 6000 years ago.
How could they know?
Because our God said so.
But, keep your eyes open.
Prophecy will again rule its ugly head.
The Jews will once again return to Israel.
 
Makes sense to me. Most people understand the biblical teachings are out of touch with modern world. So they reject many of the teachings, but embrace their heritage. Pretty smart.

Wish Christians would do the same.
 
you have to remember that the jewish population you know is very limited. most jews live in israel, and are very strict in their beliefs. this nonbelief is part of Americanism and education. The more educated one is, the less likely they will believe in a god. And jews in America focus on education a great deal.
In israel, they do too, but they indoctrinate children at very young ages, and there is a lot of emphasis about fighting for ones country, so that goes hand in hand with religious views.
In israel, its necessary to do this since pretty much everyone else in the middle east hates them, sadly.
 
Well that's because they don't believe in an immediate afterlife, nor do they believe in Hell... they're too much caught in tradition and "works" ...
 
I don't believe the vast majority of Jews ever took their religion literally, and it's a very recent phenomenon in Christianity as well. In the dark ages Christians might have been willing to be incredibly intolerant, but they certainly didn't believe the scriptures were to be taken literally, in fact most of them were illiterate and their scriptures were in Latin, a language most of them didn't know. The doctrine of literalism that we see now in Christianity only got started in the mid 19th century, and didn't reach it's peek until the 1980s.

Are you well acquainted with " most Jews"?

If you indeed, are, well versed in what they think and believe.........enter "false teaching"........." falling away" and the " great deceit". ( yes, these things apply to the Jewish).
