if your r22 is plugged into a power strip, try connecting it directly into the wall. also try putting the r22 into your freezer for a couple of hours, this works with pc hard drives ,sometimes. also try standing the receiver up on its side. ultimately though it would be best to call directv for a replacement, you pay for the dvr to work for $5.98 a mo. they will replace it if you have the protection plan on your acct , free replacement, if not call and add it @ $5.98 per mo. then get your replacement, then cancel the protection plan, there is no term, and its not a warranty, not if your r-22 is leased
