Does anyone of any good free divx to mp4 converter?

I need to convert divx files into mp4 files to playback back on an ipad, and I need it to be free. Any recommendations? I DO NO want any trials. Thanks.
Just want to add that I need a Mac compatible software.

I have VLC Player for Mac but can't seem to be able to convert with it. Mediacoder says it's available for mac but I'm not sure how.
 
Handbrake is Free, and a cool converter, but as you want to convert divx files, I think maybe you need some shareware tools to be a complement, such as iFunia video converter for Mac, a program special for Mac users design~

VLC player for Mac can't do that for you. But the windows version seems to be able to do that.
On Mac OS, you can try Film Redux (VisualHub) and PunyVid (iSquint)
