Does anyone with an LG Xenon know how to set a custom text tone?

So I have an LG Xenon and I'm with Rogers. I used Ventones to set myself a custom ringtone (using the mobile browser), and I want to use the same thing as a text tone too but it won't let me. I know my file is the right size and format (It's smaller than the preset tones that come with the phone, and it's also .mp3). The file shows up on the Audio and Ringtones menu, but I don't have the option to "Use As". The other preset ringtones have that option, so I'm guessing that's what I'm supposed to be looking for. I tried using different paths to set the file, but none of them work, and what I found online just gives tutorials that doesn't work. I read somewhere that phones can be "branded" by the company. Might that be the case? Is it possible for my phone to have custom text tones? And if so, how?
