Does government censor the Internet in Australia?

I read that the Australian government tries to block lots of pornographic as well as political Websites. It was so surprised to hear that. I want to see if that is true, or that could be a wrong saying.
 
No, it hasn't been imposed yet, but that is what the current government tried to put in legislation; however, after a huge uproar by the Australian public and many other political parties (as well as the financial crisis) the plan has been indefinitely delayed.

I started a petition against it, along with many others; Most people agree- NO INTERNET CENSORSHIP!
