does sims 3 ambitions work without sims 3 on iphone?

i want to get sims 3 ambitions on my iphone, but don't want to buy sims 3 for it to work, could you tell me if ambitions works without sims 3 so i don't waste my money please?

You don't have to buy sims 3 to use ambitions. I got sims 3 first and the character I used in ambitions wasn't the same one so no need to buy both
