Does that accent Mike Meyers have in Austin Powers sound authentic?

I guess this is a question for our friends across the Atlantic: As an American, I find the Austin Powers accent totally convincing. But it occurs to me recently that perhaps to a native speaker of British English, it might sound fake or contrived... does it?

I think what Mike Myers accent in Austin Powers is pretty good. But I'm too not sure if he just fakes it.

Have you watched the movie The Pink Panther? Detective Cuzzo has the best accent I've ever heard and it's so funny.
 
Like authentically Mike Myers voice or like... a normal persons voive? because yes if you were going for Mike Myers Voice and err... No if you were going for normal persons voice.
