Does the Motorola V550 have EDGE?

I have a Motorola V550 on Vodafone and usually it has a little red G next to the signal bar but recently the symbol has change to 3 blue boxes all in a row behind each other. My cousin says this could be EDGE because he says that Vodafone have been upgrading their data network. I was just wondering whether there was anyone who owns (Or used to own) a Motorola V550 that could tell me this? Cheers!
