I'm currently writing a short story for a school competition. I have a couple of ideas and so far this is my favorite but I'm not sure if its all that good or even appropriate. I have decided to call it Hubris and its about a teenager girl. Shes at her formal and she believes she is the best looking girl there, basically she loves herself and believes that she is invincible. Her parents call to ask for a pick up time but instead she goes to the after party. She gets drunk and throws her phone in to a pool to piss of her parents who are trying to call her. She asks her also drunk boyfriend to take her to his house. The get in the car even though their friends tell them not to. She urges him to drive faster and manipulates him to do dangerous tricks. They later crash into another car which happens to be her parents car, her boyfriend and mother die. She wakes up later in hospital and realizes it was all her fault.
Its modeled to the Greek tragedy cycle hence the title.
Thanks for reading.
Yes i realize it is very cliche. Any tips on how to make it different? I had an idea of something similar with the 'emo' culture.
