Does updating the xbox 360 dashboard affect the Flashed Dvd Firmware?

HI.
I recently bought a xbox 360 and its dvd drive is flashed to run backups. But will updating the 360 dashboard ruin the flashed firmware? Do I have to re-flash or something?
