get your bf to lure the dog into the road, maybe a car will hit the dog....problem solved

What can we do to prevent this from happening in the future?

He says that the dog does not growl and has gotten close enough to bite him but didn't. He said when the dog gets close enough to attack it just backs up a bit and chases again.

The problem my bf has is he thinks that one day he will be hit by a car while distracted by the dog. I worry about him. What can we do?

He doesn't have a car as of now. And his bike is the only way he can get back and fourth to work. He doesn't think the dog will bite him he just thinks it likes to chase however he doesn't know for sure so he is frightened and takes flight. We were thinking about calling the pound....

Try to find out the house where the dog is coming from and talk to the dog's owner's about the situation. It sounds like they are probably violating leash laws (as in dogs are not allowed to just run loose around the neighborhood. If they are going to be out of their own yard they need to be on a leash and that's the law in most areas of the US anymore at least).
If talking to the owner's doesn't produce any results then you could try one of two things. Your bf could carry pepper spray and when the dog starts to chase, he could spray it. OR, when the dog starts to chase him have him call animal control from his cell phone. The owners, if they can be contacted, will likely be fined and if it continues they could lose the dog which should be enough of a threat for them to keep their pet under control.

If this a problem....have your husband get some pepper spray...he should not want to have it sprayed in his face more than once....he should not be off leash. Aren't there leash laws there? You should report a loose dog. they are dangerous..

dont call the pound but if you have to make sure its non lethal so they won't hurt him

what i would suggest that if he isn't biting him then he just likes him my friend came over this weekend and my dog growled and anyone who came near her and now that she is gone he seems fine

i have a question
does the bf like the dog and do you ever leave him and the dog together alone please answer me on your details

thanks

Yes lodge a complaint right away there are leash laws. Your saving the pet from being hit. It is not your responsibility to tell the neighbors how to raise their dog, it is the pounds job to relay the laws to them though.

I hate it when stuff like this happens. Here's what u can do:
1. Talk to the owner of the dog. If you don't know him/her ask around.
2. Call/talk to the police. Don't make a 911 call just call there normal number and ask what they can do.
3. Call the pound, as you thought. That is an excellent idea.

Also if possible, check to see if it has a collar. If so, look at it. And if it's a puppy, just know they love to do that. Hope this helps! :)
