My dad is getting a shotgun for home defense and we're having a debate on whats better. I'm asking for some third party input. * The situation would include more than one person*
My reasoning: Pump action is better.
1) More shells for multiple shots. You have the option for a warning shot.
2) The pump action cycle can be a non-lethal deterrent.
3) Won't have to fumble around with shells in emergency situation. They're already in the shotgun.
4) can mount attachments easier (if needed)
5) less expensive then an equal quality double barrel shotgun.
My dad: Double Barrel
1) Double Barrel has a quicker follow up shot (not by much in a real world situation)
This is no longer a case of "just get both", but if you'd had to pick. I think the pump would be an easy and obvious choice, but maybe I'm missing something about the double barrel?
