maintained speed? Driving habits for the best MPG is it better to slowly accelerate to a maintained speed? Or is better to Accelerate fast to the maintained speed?

Slowly accelerate keeping the RPM's low and steady until you reach the speed limit and set the cruise control or accelerate fast to the speed limit then set the cruise?
