The only D&D interaction I have nowadays is with Neverwinter Nights. Getting 4 people together is hard to do, with school, work, and MA. At least i can play by myself on the computer.

I used to sorta play ADnD 1st and 2nd and the really really old Basic DnD game, my moms :O. And I saued to run very bad 3.0/3.5 games, gave up after I killed my friedns off, even thouygh it asnt my fault. The halfling theif should have been using a bigger weapon, and they roll poorly, and I am sadly massivly lucky. The best time I had playing DnD was when I was using my half orc Sorcerer in the party was the half orc bard, he had the highest charisma out of the enire group, and i ofund that killing sleeping enemies after they fall 30 ft from the sky is easy
A STABBITY DEATH TO ALL
I wasnt a good sorcerer I killed more things with my hands than my spells

I'm not that old... early to mid 30's

I never really got into the computer versions of the games... I really like the interpersonal role playing the best and was comfortable playing all sorts of characters (usually intentionally choosing characters with flaws or developing attributes to make the play more interesting)

Alive and well actually. I'm playing in a Monday-night group myself. They've just released the 3rd and 3.5th editions of D&D. And it's doing very well for itself. We're playing in "The World's Largest Dungeon." An unapologetic return to old school D&D, where you systematically check for traps, kill anything that moves, and rake in the treasure.

Good lark.

sadly my firends gave me some trouble when I strated playing Vampires:the Masquerade cus I would do that, make my characters flawed in some way, like being poor or massivly religiously intolerant hell bent on whiping all evil from the world.

I love hack and slash, but its gets old and when they play table top that is all it is.
Oh well *goes back to work creaein g his new cmpaihn world*

I played it twice (2 sessions total), but I am having trouble getting a group together to play again. I just play D&D-based RPGs now (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc). The group of friends I played with takes it as a game, not seriously, but my other friends who play... well... they treat it as the REAL world. As in "No, if you read this book, your character HAS TO become evil" where the book was a set of rules for D&D. Scary...

I have to agree. One of the major appeals of D&D is sitting around a table with a bunch of friends and pretending to be what you aren't. The computer games are fun, but they just aren't the same.
I remember I was DM'ing once, and the players were in a tavern someplace. There was a half-orc barmaid there, and the thief player decided to pick her pocket. Since he was slightly inebriated, he failed to do so without her noticing. Of course, the half-orc mistakenly thought that the poor little halfling was flirting with her. She promply quit work for the night to spend some "quality time" with her newfound admirer. I think the thief cleaned up his act after that one. Stuff like that could never happen in a video game.

*Feeling nostalgic*

I started with the boxed sets (basic and advanced) all the way up to 2nd edition, including the handbooks (fighters, wizards, dwarves etc...) mostly forgotten realms, but some Dragonlance, Darksun and Ravenloft stuff too.
So who here has done the B, C and S series adventures?

How about Shadowrun, Cyberpunk (if you can stay alive long enough), Call of Cthulu and Villans and Vigilanttes or GURPS fans. Created a really cool program to handle initiative and turn sequnce for Shadowrun and AD&D in qbasic

Reminds me of the time My Half orc sorc and teh half orc bard made and orcish love potion. we we were going to hog tie the halfling paliadin and douse him/her with it and tosse him/her into an orcish village. Anm t etime we used my brothers halfling rogue to check for traps.
Gee halflings always get the short end of the stick.........a short joke I am sure can made from that.

Did a one off Gurps Discworld campaing, where one of the guys tried to make the barmaids clothes fall off. All he managed to do was make this trunk guys trousers fall down! Probably just as well, as drunk guy was about to thump his mate.

Anyone read GRUNTS by Mary Gentle?

Sergeant! Pass me another elf! This one's split!
