If you are looking to transfer all your dvds to xvid etc (a media library assuming that one has such a compatible player, like me) - is there a FASTER way to do it than all the software conversion systems available ?
I personally have used a few, like DVDx etc but there has to be some experimention on quality vs speed of conversion.
I think it has to be assumed that its not possible to have your cake and eat it and have both with software conversions
(up to several hours required must seem to be the norm).
I've found ok'ish quality conversions, to divx on lower data rates are really quick - but isn't this somewhat self defeating when taking from a fairly reasonable standard of video like DVD and then removing the quality ?
I am thinking of a "hardware accelerated" based solution here. Is there such a thing likely to become more mainstream (i.e a commerically recongnised idea - like it took a while for mp3 to be integrated into personal stereo's.
Or with the advent of blueray will it make xvid a dead format...
