DVD writers and DVD rom's are the same ? or separated hardware?

ye im looking to buy one to put CD's and dvd's in it .... if its a dvd burner can it burn cd's too ?

dvd rom- the ro is READ ONLY
dvd-rw- READ and WRITE

you need a dvd-rw

Yes, They can burn anything except blu-ray discs.
