I was away for 4 months (studying abroad) so my car, Vauxhall astra 97 was left undriven. Got back car started up and was driving normally straight away until 3/4 days later. I tried turning the engine on, sounded like it was trying to start and than made this 'click' sound and that was it, wouldn't start. Tried again same happened but less time trying to start and than 'click'. Now just get the click/won't start at all. We called out the AA to check the car, he said the engine was locking up and needed a new car. Just rung my uncle (a good mechanic, but lives too far to look at it) who said engines wouldn't pack up like that and sounds like the starter motor. All the hazard lights work and don't fade no matter how long electrics left on for. What does it sound like to you? Worth paying to take it to a local mechanic? and i recently had the cambelt changed.
