Episodes from Liberty City from Marketplace or on disc?

I have GTA IV and was considering picking up Episodes from Liberty City on disc. It is cheaper and comes in a nice box. However, I was wondering what the benefits of buying it as DLC on the Marketplace are. I realize if you buy the DLC you need the actual game to run it...does this mean you can get the new weaponary in Ballad of Gay Tony and Lost and the Damned in GTA IV (the original version)? Any info would be appreciated.
