Ever rewrite someone else's story in your head and forget what the real version was?

Sometimes I don't like the way a story goes. I rebuild it and forget which version is real.

Like in Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series. I don't like the use of only male gods. In my mind I rewrote the Creator god as female and kept the Destroyer god (called Keeper) as male.

In Sarah Monette's "Doctrine of Labyrinths" series I did not like that Felix's mother was a prostitute. I like to envision she has her own story with government secrets, spies, assassins, and she's hiding from Felix's real father (we never find out who that is for sure).

My young cousins are always rewriting their own version of Masashi Kishimoto's "Naruto."
