Experience for technology for the future?

In my web design class, my teacher told us that in order to achieve in the future we will have to have some experience in technology. Now my generation is called the generation of technology because of all the new devices invented. I was also told that teachers will have to have some experience in the future to because most likely everything will be computer-generated or touch-screen. Is all of this true? and if it is, how far along is it?
