fantasy races ???? help !?

hey i like reading fantasy and im also a righter myself.i don tlike reading fantasy that has to many races of sentient species in it or stuff that has like weird races in it or animal races like lion people and the like.i dont read dungeons and dragons either because it has all of what i this mentioned.i also dont like reading stuff tha tis like a copy of tolkien mainly because i read all of his works and ive read all the high fantasy crap that sounds to much like it.a tolkien copy,well anyways i like reading fantasy with unique races that are new and fresh but not to weird.something that is unique.does anyone know anything good ?

one of my favorite fantasy series is R.A. Salvatore's "Drizzt Do'urdern" series. there are a number of races in there but they aren't all thrown at you at once, but it mainly keeps to the basic dwarf, elf, gnome, etc.
currently there are about 24 books in the series (including side stories). The books mainly focuses on one main character, but there are a few other main characters that follow him along. you can notice that there are influences of Tolkien's writing in these books but not enough to make you think Salvatore was attempting to mimic him.
great books, definitely recommend
