Many physicists are of the opinion alt universes exist and every choice we make spawns one. The concept actually started as a Sci-Fi concept but has gained some credibility among Physicists. Yet this idea defies the laws of conservation of energy. It also grows infinitely more complex as more and more people exist to make more and more choices spreading exponentially meaning that assuming a finite space we would eventually run out of places for alt universes to exist.
Ancient Philosophy and folklore suggests alternate planes or dimensions rather than alt universes. These planes already exist and a choice would there for be a hop, a split where one would exist in a universe populated mostly constants, people who's choices tended to keep them in the same universe as you or closely related universes. While the concept of multiple you's still applies there is a finite number of them. I further suggest that there are threads which attract these paths of fate. Fate being less an individual thread but a thread of the constants who populate a group of closely related universes. Fate thus interacts with the group rather than the individual. This is why fate so often brings people together or in conflict.
There of course being many threads of fate. I suspect connected in such a way that the energy is conserved rather than being linear. I think that is why we instinctively view fate and our universe as web or a wheel. This of course would impact time. Time could not itself be linear in such a system.Instead it would need to be folded or layered. It would not necessarily be concurrent however. Skip over far enough and it might be possible to travel in time but the time experienced would not be the time of your time line. Just similar. To accomplish actual time travel I feel you'd have to unfold time as I feel it is concurrent and adjacent to the now.
Ok folks shoot it full of holes. I'm curious what you think of the theory.
