FBI can hear us even when our cell phones are off? (speaker phone)?

i just saw a report about how the fbi can listen to our conversations through the speakerphone in our own cell phones.. i heard this was used before.. to here critical conversations of the mafia..
what do u guys think?

I guess it would depend on your cell phone, but as far as I'm aware that's impossible.

Yes. It is possible and has been done. It's not a normal technique, involves "hacking" the phone, and virtually any information gleaned from it would not be admissible in court (due to a reasonable expectation of privacy).
Unless you're plotting and assassination or bombing, you're pretty safe. The FBI is pretty busy, and has bigger fish to fry.

No, they used to be able to do this, but now unless they have a court order from a special court put into effect they can not moniter the conversations of US citizens. Maybe 15 years ago they could. Of course they may still be listening in without government approval.

I think that's scary pretty soon, I think that gecio comerical would be right lol, having the IRS spying on us with the money stack guy, lol, now I'm scared lol, But anyways It's weird I kinda of figured before that cell phones where not that secured, because how they can pick up calls, and etc. They should be though.
