Fellas, why does this guy only show interest when I talk about leaving him alone?

We've been seeing each other about 5 mos. as much as the 2 1/2 hours distance will allow. But I tell him, despite (in-spite of) the distance, he needs to show more interest. He only calls if I don't call him, and sometimes not until I say I'm done with him. Should I move on?
