Final Fantasy Online + Torrent (Vuze) = Game disconnecting.?

Well there's something going on, somehow these two things are interacting, because I can play other games just fine (for the most part, there is an occasional lag spike) while downloading a torrent, even at speeds upwards of 1MBPS, but, within 5-10 mins of opening a torrent while on FFXI, the game completely loses connection, I don't just get kicked back to the lobby (only calling it that so those who understand might have an idea of what I'm talking about) I get kicked straight out to the login screen.

Ordinarily I'd be fine with just not trying to do both at the same time, unfortunately, the game has a token (a device that produces a 1 time password (that also only lasts so long) and somehow both my account and a friend of mine's got linked under the same token, he pays for both of our accounts, so he keeps the token, when I need a new password I have to call him to get one, and as you can imagine, I can't just call whenever I want... So I leave my character logged in 24/7.

Anyone have any ideas why this particular game might be singled out, over say, Call of Duty World at War? FFXI uses a ridiculously low amount of bandwidth, it's one of the few games that you can play on dial up out there.. Since CoD uses a massively larger amount of bandwidth, and I do not experience this problem with that game, I highly doubt it's a bandwidth issue (also supported by the fact that I can put the download limit to 1KPBS and still be kicked all the same)
