first bluetooth attempt?

ok, I got a new phone with bluetooth. I'm trying to connect it to my laptop (hp pavillion dv2911 with windows 7). The bluetooth on the phone is on and set to visible, when I go to add a device it searches for it, but doesn't find anything. I don't know if I don't have bluetooth, if it's not turned on, or if there's some other problem.

If I don't have bluetooth installed can I download the driver for it and if so, where?

@Timthedude: I meant to have that as part of the question. I don't know if I have it or not. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
 
your phone and your laptop need to be PAIRED to each other, you also need to set your laptop to be visible, this is accomplished by going into your control panel on your laptop and adjusting settings
 
Is there bluetooth RECIEVER on your PC? just because you can search doesn't mean there is a bluetooth receiver on your laptop
