Okay sooo.... Today was my first day of my first job.. At taco bell.... And they threw me on the cash register up front and I didn't know how to work it cuz it had a bunch of abbreviations for the food!!! It was so hard I felt like an idiot standing up there. I had to ask for help with like EVERY customer!!!!! I fel completly ridiculous. And I was working 6 hours straight with no break. I couldn't even set down. I was working my ass off taking out the trash cleaning AND trying to work the cash register at the same time!!! Yeah I was running back and fourth all day:/ what should I do about this????? Think Itll get better? I'm just really worried about the codes on the register!

That's why they call a job work - it's not fun!

But seriously, your first few days will naturally be worst of all since there's a lot of stuff you aren't used to and haven't learned yet.

So... it will certainly get better, but whether better will be good enough remains to be seen!

It's hard to think they didn't give you any training what-so-ever, but then again many companies get their employees experience with the "death by fire" way... just throw you in and let you learn as you go.

Every person (young and old... even if you've been working for 40 years) has this anxiety when starting a new job.. That's just it... it's new... you are in a different environment... out of your comfort zone. Day by day you will learn the codes, know where they are at and it'll become a breeze. But don't get me wrong... when you have a job you have to work. Don't think that work is like it was at home with mom and dad and you can just not do it and get away with it, complain about it to them, etc. At work you have to do it or you're gone... ya it sucks, but that's the price you pay for working for someone else. Welcome to the "real" world.

First days at work are always tough. Just get in there and give it your best. Smile, smile, be lovely and do everything you are asked to do.

It doesn't look good on your resume if you quit too early. It will get better and you will get experience.

Yeah it always gets easier. I worked in a supermarket at Uni and the till was hard at first, but I just settled in and was actually really good at using it eventually training other people how to use it properly. I remembered the things I found hard and passed those onto others eg, how to split payments between cash and debit card and other STUPID things customers ask you to do. Ask them if you can shadow a colleague and watch them use the till and then have them watch you, it will only take a few hours and then you will save them a lot of hours in lost productivity.
