FTA satellite Question ?

I live in canada , and im thinking about switching over to free to air satellite
right now i have an antenna on my roof and receive decent channels like abc,cbs,fox,cw.pbs..
but im getting bored of them I want MORE channels without having to pay the monthly subscription bill of a satellite company. therefore I was wondering

1.Is it worth the transision
2.what channels will I get ( like nickelodeon,disney,mtv,vh1...?)
3.What equipment will I need
 
FTA satellite doesn't have free HD, like antenna does and most
of the english channels are religious. So if you want those
specialty channels you have to pay.
