I never owned a gaming console in my entire 15 years of life. Yes im a male. I use to own like nintendo 64, and those gamboys, and did hardcore gaming online, but never owned a real console I would constantly play on. I have a job, and saved up nearly $3,500 and I want to spend a little cash, but not too much. I don't want to spend like $500 on a console. Here's what I want to play :

Things like grand theft auto, gun shooting, racing... honestly I don't know, I never played any of these consoles before. But those are the main ideas. Hardcore fighting; tekken, etc. I would like to get the gaming console where I can mod it and get free games.

I heard if you mod an xbox they could design the whole box for you? How would they even get these plates? Can a modded xbox play free games? (free games meaning, games you get online and steal) ?
If I get an xbox, which xbox do I get? Theres so many...
Btw, what do the gigs mean for the playstation/ xbox? Like theres 60gb xbox? What does that mean. I know 60gb is the memory, but for what? I thought if you mod it, you get free games

You'll probably want the 360 or the ps3 from your gaming preferences, but the Wii has a great hack for homebrew.

The biggest difference between 360 & ps3- that blu ray player and the pay vs free online. 360 makes you pay to play online, but you can download some free games from XBL:Arcade. PS3 offers the Blu Ray player, and free online, otherwise it's just a difference of exclusives. I'd still go with the 360 for now, red ring of death is becoming less of an issue now, and I prefer the 360 exclusives. Your 360 will be 199-399$ depening on what you want, I believe the PS3 only comes in one price range 399- although I may be wrong. Both allows PAID downloads of older and small studio games.

As far as the Wii- don't listen to the elitists. It is an excellent gaming machine for anyone, hardcore, or casual. There is a graphic gap so some games will not look as good, but there is the play to consider. I love the Wiimote/Nunchuck set up, especially on shooters like Metroid Prime 3 - a must have if you like shooters and you get a Wii. Driving games also let you tilt the wiimote side to side to get a steering wheel effect. Having been a gamer I've found sitting on my duff mashing buttons can get a little old, so Nintendo's p

PS3's and Xbox 360's have the same graphics except ps3 has blu-ray, motion sensing controllers and if this is your first console it has a more easy to use controller, ps3 has free online which now is just as good as 360's. If you want h.d for your Xbox 360 you have to buy it separately. So i recommend the ps3 for you, do not get the Wii it's unimpressive and non-user friendly. I have all 3, so you can trust me. The 80gb ps3 is a good option plenty of memory for all your multimedia. AND IT HAS PLAYSTATION STORE WHEN YOU CAN BUY OLD GAMES ONLINE AND OTHER STUFF, I DO NOT KNOW WHY PEOPLE ARE SAYING THAT PS3 HAS BAD GAMES, PS3 AND XBOX360 HAVE THE SAME GAMES BUT PS3 DOESN'T HAVE HALO, AND XBOX 360 DOESN'T HAVE METAL GEAR SOLID 4, LITTLE BIG PLANET, RESISTANCE 2, UNCHARTED, HEAVENLY SWORD AND MORE, ALL THESE GAMES GOT OVER 9 OUT OF TEN ON GAMESPOT!!! plus you can get grand theft auto 4, call of duty 3, 4 and 5...
