I am very very very nervous for my extraction tomorrow! I am getting 3 teeth removed on one side of my mouth because I will need braces, but after this I will get 3 MORE removed! I would like to know if I could use laughing gas so I don't feel the needle because I am very afraid of needles. I have gotten an extraction when I was 4 but I only remember people holding me down for the needle in my gums. Describe your procedure and can I use laughing gas and do I have other options? Thnx.

I had teeth pulled too, and I hate needles..You may have to have more than one shot, but you shouldn't feel the needle after the first one. Its only a second then it doesn't hurt anymore. I don't think they normally use both gas and Novocaine, but it may vary by dentist..

If you are really afraid I would buy some orajel and put some on your gums before the shot..it should deaden your nerves enough that you don't feel the needle..Good Luck!!

Depends on your oral surgeon, but I have always used gas. I don't think you should call it "laughing gas" though. Actually it is very cheap considering you get to take a great nap and wake up after it's all over. I had to have an upper on one side and molar on opposite done. Seriously, don't waste too much time worrying about it especially if you are using the gas. It's a non issue. The worse part is waiting for the gum to heal, which is still not too bad.

Get some sleep. These extractions are simple compared to years ago and they are truly painless procedures.
