Getting Divx working Apple Imac G5?

My friend's have an old apple imac g5. I think it came out in 2005 or 2006. Either way, I think it may have the old PowerPC processors that they used to have. I'm familiar with PC's, but not with macs.

So my question is, is it possible to watch Divx or Xvid movies on one of these things?

I've tried instlaling the latest version DIVX but I have a feeling I may have needed a specific version of Divx in order to make it work.

Anyhow, if it's not possible, is it possible for me to install windows on one of these and then install divx?

Why get Divx? VLC, MPlayer, and the Perian codec pack for Quicktime will play just about anything, divx included. Some might not have PPC versions out currently, but will have links to older versions.
