future...? When we "borrow" money to pay for current govt operations, thus adding to our natl debt, who do we borrow it from? i've heard talk about other countries or private entities to whom we owe money "calling" our loans and demanding payment. what if they do? and if we can't pay, sorta like an apocolyptic stand-off, what really will happen? And please, let's not throw mud or talk about how it's all Bush's fault again...
 
Apparently, not unlike the current housing market, it may be called in at any time by less than friendly powers and for even less reason than a mere lack of confidence in our financial systems in which we may be powerless to act because of existing international banking laws that subscribe the values of any currency based upon an ability to repay. If we default on this due to the doubled national debt and credit crisis created essentially under the previous administration's aegis we may not be able fund ourselves out of a loose knot hole in a forrest fire. In which case they may buy our most profitable industries for pennies on the former dollar. These may include some of our most secretive defense industries, by the way, if only as a bargaining point to further negotiations as we continue to borrow if possible. Don't worry, the wealthy have already relocated, so national borders have become rather meaningless other than to maintain a sumptuous estate.

Then Again, America has given ALOT to countries all over the globe, Both in money, and in blood. WW1, WW2, KOREA, VIET NAM, Persian Gulf,Afghanistan, Iraqi Freedom.........Some need to recognize what we have done. Good or Bad. We all need allies......don't sell your friends short, Both America and The World.
