Grilling - just brush the sauce onto chicken, ribs, steaks or chops while grilling.
Broiling - same as above
Baking - generously cover foods with BBQ sauce and bake until cooked through.
Homemade BBQ Sauce
(makes about 2 1/2 cups)
Ingredients:
2 tbl. olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup steak sauce
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 tbl. dijon mustard
2 tbl. worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt, if desired
fresh ground black pepper
1/4 cup bourbon
Method:
Heat olive oil in a heavy saucepan. Saute’ the onions and garlic until soft, but not browned. Add remaining ingredients and simmer over low heat for 10 – 15 minutes. Cool slightly. Puree in food processor until completely smooth. Cool completely and store in glass container in refrigerator. Use within 2 weeks.
