Does anyone know of which MSF Basic Rider Course is good in Maryland? I was going to take a course at either a Harley-Davidson dealership or a Community College. Then I noticed on the Maryland MVA website it lists the fees for all the independent places that do MSF training and then there is apparently training at the MVA which is much more reasonable. Most of the places list their charge for the class as around $300, but it's more like $340 when you add in extra charges. The MVA's Basic Rider Course is listed at $175.

I was wondering why this is? I assume the Community Colleges and dealerships need to make something out of the courses. Right? Has anyone taken or done the BRC course through the MVA or their state's DMV? Are those classes good and equal to the independent places?
