google maps on android stoped working, how do i fix it?

I have Samsung galaxy s3 with verizon wilreless (model number sch-i535). Recently there was software update available and I upgraded my software now I have android version 4.1.2 and every time I open my google maps it freezes and closes saying "unfortunately, maps has stopped." I use google maps all the time during work, as I travel a lot and make many deliveries and now I can't do anything. How can I download and install the previous version on my phone? or how can I fix the problem on my phone with google maps? please help.
 
Try to clear data from maps and see if the problem persists. If it does persist, then try clearing data from Google Services Framework and then do a reboot.

Even if you download a previous version of maps, it'll just update to the latest one automatically. Just a little bit of information for you to learn. Hope this helped.
