had a swab for b strep, would this pick up cervical cancer?

Go to your gp and request a smear test. I had my first one at 17 because of my family history. Im sure you can request it.

when my waters broke i had a swab taken to test for b strep ect, i was wondering if this would also pick up any cancerous cells or do i need to go and have a separate smear test? Also i am under 25 so not due for a smear test.
 
A swab for streptococcus will be sent to a microbiology lab. to be cultured for bacteria, it will NOT be examined for cancerous cells.

A smear test will be sent to a cytology screening laboratory, the slide bearing the smear will be stained with special dyes that will enhance the appearance of the cells and make abnormal cells more visible. The slide will then be looked at by a trained microscopist, probably a cytoscreener, and if anything suspicious is seen it will be checked by a consultant.

If you have concerns regarding cervical cancer, you will have a lot of contact with health professionals following the birth of your baby, take the opportunity to ask questions and ask for any help you feel you may need.
